Technical Explanation

Solar energy comes from the Sun in the form of light rays that have traveled through 93 million miles of space. Even with all that distance, the earth is exposed to 1367 Watts/meter2, this number is called the solar constant. This energy value is the equivalent of nearly fourteen 100W light bulbs per hour per square meter!

Now this value decreases as the light comes through the 120 some odd miles of our planet’s atmosphere but still packs a punch here on the surface. Different regions have differing levels of solar irradiation and this must all be factored into designing a solar system.
